Privacy Policy for SCANNECT App
Introduction
Our Privacy Policy explains:
- What information we collect and why we collect it.
- How we use that information.
- The choices we offer, including how to access and update information.
Information we collect
We collect information to provide better services to our users – especially to improve the reading capabilities of our 2D Code reading algorithm.
We collect information in the following ways:
Information you give us
For example, some of our services require you to sign up for a 4JET Account. When you do, we’ll ask for personal information, like your name, email address, telephone number or the like to store with your account. We collect this information in order to be able to organize our service.
Device information
We collect device specific information such as your hardware model, operating system version, unique device identifiers and camera information. Especially in the Android world devices have very different capabilities and different requirements. We use this information to understand those special requirements with respect to our service and to be able to optimize our decoding algorithm according to your device.
Log information
When you use our service, we automatically collect and store certain information in server logs. This includes details of how you used our service, such as time and date of usage; whether you use the camera flashlight; the decoding time and general performance of our decoding algorithm; the 2D Code bit sequence and the number of trials you need to decode a Code. For unsuccessful scans we collect part of the actual pictures taken and store those that do contain a readable Code.
Based on this information we can optimize the performance of our algorithm and the quality of our front end.
Location information
For each scan we collect information about your actual location. We use this data to deduce on the actual illumination level from weather information on the actual location. We further use the information to understand the wear situation and mechanisms that might be characteristic for a certain area and might make the decoding of the 2D data codes difficult.
Unique application numbers
Our service includes a unique application number. This number and information about your installation (for example, the operating system type and application version number) may be sent to 4JET when you install or uninstall that service or when that service periodically contacts our servers, such as for automatic updates.
Local storage
For the time you are not online we store the above mentioned data locally on your device. The same applies to the pictures of unsuccessful scans that we store locally until the next WLAN connection.
We will ask for your consent before using information for a purpose other than those that are set out in this Privacy Policy.
Choices we offer
Our technology is designed to be incorporated into your own smartphone or camera device applications. For this purpose our service can be started from another service on Your device. In that case we will hand over the 2D code bit sequence as well as other information we collect to this service. Get in touch with us to discuss a solution tailor-made for your needs that convinces you technically and suits your privacy needs.
